Transformation of an iconic Kutchan staff accommodation into a modernised cozy guest house
The famous (or infamous) Yellow House in Kutchan has been a staff accommodation for a number of years and provided a seasonal home for many seeking their powder dream here in Niseko. It’s a massive house with 7 big bedrooms, two bathrooms and two toilets, and only few minutes walk from Kutchan train station.
The house was introduced to a client in winter 2019, who recognised the potential of the tourist industry in Niseko and the demand for a cheaper holiday accommodation, and had the idea to operate a guest house in Kutchan. The transaction was completed in spring 2020 and the new owners took immediate advantage of the unusually quiet summer under the effect of the pandemic to undertake extensive renovations and transform the property into a beautiful modern guest house.
Obviously winter 2020/21 wasn’t exactly a normal ski season, however with a greater than usual number of domestic tourists looking to take advantage of the empty slopes, the property still received a good number of guests.
Demand in Kutchan remains high. The future is bright!
